Edited by: Dodgy Past on 16/07/2010 23:20:28 Eve is a spaceship game, and the CSM represents the player base of this space ship game.
CCP want to broaden the appeal of the game to many more people by adding non space ship / combat bits.
The new stuff doesn't appeal to the current player base, and the fact that they're prioritising this potential future market to such an extent that they're virtually abandoning the space ship game in a pretty broken state is obviously going to enrage the current players.
Why CCP don't get this is completely beyond me.
Maybe the facts are just sinking in now since we've been promised so many times that the non space ships stuff wouldn't interfere with development on the space ship stuff which is what the current players love. Finally it's in black and white that the Eve space ship team has been stripped to the barebones... and done while the game is is the worst state I've ever seen it since I started playing.
Eve is a PC game about spaceships, probably the best game about space ships, so guess what your players want? Or more accurately guess what they don't want; hairdressing and bar keeping, nor console FPS. Demonstrating that this isn't where your priorities lie isn't going to make those players very happy is it?
Edit: Also quite classic that a direct quote from a senior member of staff in CCP is deemed to be inappropriate. Truly WTF. Inappropriate signature removed. Zymurgist |

It is interesting that not once has the player experience aspect been acknowledged, and shockingly it appears the effect this has on the players is being ignored.
Tomorrow everyone is going to wake up that little pit more upset and frustrated that nobody will take the players seriously. I'm sad to say that the air of condescension in threads like these is very unhelpful. The players aren't dumb kids but instead you have many incredibly talented people offering sound advice that is being brushed off contemptuously.
This is the experience CCP is delivering to its players at the moment. Inappropriate signature removed. Zymurgist |

Originally by: CCP Soundwave I work on EVE!
That makes me awesome.
I get the feeling that a few of the players are actually more 'awesome', since the jobs at CCP don't offer them anything like the rewards they can get for their talents elsewhere the best they can do is offer some useful free advice.
When they do it's contemptuously ignored as if they're unruly idiotic children. Inappropriate signature removed. Zymurgist |

Originally by: Cergorach I'm the first to admit that I have close to ZERO experience with ship based PVP (some would argue that trading is also PVP), that's not the point. As I've pointed out above, big fleet fights are primarily the domain of 0.0, and as only ~11% of the characters are located in 0.0 space and not all of those participate in large fleet fights, there are very few characters/accounts/players that are actually affected by large fleet battles lag.
Sometimes silence is golden, because do you really want to hear that 0.0 large fleet battles are insignificant problems compare to other issues CCP is facing? Would you think less players would walk away from EVE if they hear the 'Truth(tm)' directly from CCP or that they were guessing? Would you consider it smart from CCP that they would say "Our paper-pushers have calculated that we'll earn more money if we spend more resources now on Incarna/Dust514/WoD then on fixing Lag/bugs/rockets."
There's also a difference between "We're working on it." and "It'll be fixed in the near future.". I do not believe you have ever hear the second sentence related to lag, and they have tried to make it better consistently, certainly not as fast as most of us would like.
This is the ridiculous mistake so many people new to the game make.
You cannot even conceive how much of what is produced in Empire ends up out in null sec where you should be praying that it then gets blown up. Null sec / PvPers is the market that should drive the whole economy.
But because these fleet battles are impossible that destruction isn't happening and there is strong evidence of deflation all over the place.

Edited by: Dodgy Past on 19/07/2010 02:10:48 Interesting to note how the Business side always manage to be around to collect the credit when something good happens, but dissapear into the shadows when their customers want some concrete answers to their problems.
This thread seems to be showing that large numbers of people are all sharing that niggling feeling that while they can't put their finger on it something is going drastically wrong.
It would be a lot more comforting to see someone who had real insight and authority to actually explain what is really going on, but we won't even get an acknowledgement to this thread from anyone with any real power.
While I do have a lot of sympathy with the people from CCP getting involved in this thread there, none of you seem to be in a position to actually change anything. The thing is people aren't going to let this lie, people have already dragged massively into this and things are going to continue to escalate.
